For the love of fog…
spring brings the clouds in low, light on the water shifting with the wind, originally uploaded by A.p.K.
This past week started out with record high temperatures – blazing sun and dry heat – in a spring season barely visited by rain – it was a hot, sweaty reminder of why I don’t live in certain other places.
Heat makes people cranky, and saps the energy out of even the most motivated souls. Sleep was impossible, and the mosquitoes took full advantage of the prime hatching conditions (and the fact that we have no screens in our windows).
Waking up yesterday morning to see overcast skies and fog hugging the coastal valleys was hugely comforting – the air was cool and the light soft, and I found myself feeling deeply relieved by even the slightest breeze.
With any luck, summer is here, which means the fog will be sticking around, the temperatures will stay mild, and if you’re looking to get a tan and lounge around in the sun on a hot stretch of sand, you can go to the desert and sip your umbrella drinks there. I’ll stick to pea-soup foggy mornings, bonfires on chilly beaches and afternoon breezes that kick up around 3pm everyday, thank you very much!

Angelina here.
Oh yeah- heat and me don’t agree. I love what it produces in my garden but otherwise can live without it. I love fog. We don’t get much of it around here. But luckily we do get lots of rain and cooler temperatures.
