About
Long story short, I…
… was born in New York, raised in Northern California, and no matter where I go I still identify most with the rolling hill-country and rugged coasts of Sonoma County.
… was first handed a tank of a Minolta SLR when my father thought I was strong enough not to drop it – I remember it feeling solid, reliable – I went from black and white to color print to slide film over the years, developing and printing in my parent’s light-proofed bathroom. Now I shoot mostly Nikon digital, but I use it like that old Minolta, and still keep a stash of film in the fridge.
… am a recent graduate of a degree program centered around the production of film, digital video, and radio media. I am most comfortable in the editor’s chair and most often in the producer’s, and I am most invested in pursuing documentary film.
… am a local in a town that is world-renowned as a tourist destination. My morning commute to my “day job” takes me along the dunes, through the eucalyptus groves, past a quaint downtown, and to the waterfront where I look out over the rooftops of Cannery Row from my desk. To me, this is paradise, and my fondest affection for this corner of Steinbeck country is best expressed through the lens.
… shoot everything – trying to work on portraiture, always drawn to dramatic landscapes, macros of flowers – there is no limit to what interests my eye, and it is my goal to better use my camera to capture what I see.
This will primarily be a photo-blog, but other assorted diversions will be posted as well, and I am prone to quite personal and reflective rants from time to time – feedback is always welcome!

Excellent! all good things (including procrastination…obviously from the point of view of a fellow procrastinator). “unstable” sometimes just means refusing ’stability’ –which can sometimes be a crutch.
Found you on Straight from the Farm. You have a wonderful, various, and interesting way with things and are a very fine writer. I’ll be back.

Great site! I truly love your title. It says so much in so little space…
Lucky you to be in Steinbeck’s backyard. As a California boy, I feel that I click with him much more than Faulkner or Hemingway. Perhaps I’m biased, but aren’t we all?
